For the past 3 weekends - we have been out and exploring the many trails located in the McKeldin Area of Patapsco Valley State Park (Maryland USA). My new "retirement" from being involved in youth baseball as an administrator for so long has now freed up a substantial amount of free time. This means I am able to get back to doing a lot of things I love - most notably getting out, hiking, taking pictures, and just generally taking in the awesome environment. The photos that I am sharing here are from all over the park as we have hiked pretty much most of the areas over the 3 week period. I was amazed at some of the sights because we have lived in this area (literally 10 minutes away) for 22 years and have never gotten out to explore this area! Anyway... before I share these pictures a brief blurb about this place. And be sure to keep checking back. Over the next 6 weeks or so I have a lot of really cool places I plan to visit and get lots of pictures. I also have been putting together some videos to share on YouTube so be sure to check those out if you like.

The entire Patapsco Valley State Park covers about 32 miles of the Patapsco River and about 14,000 acres. The park was created in the early 1900's after the completion of a nearby dam (Bloede's Dam) to allow for protection of the water supply as well as the forest resources within the Patapsco River valley. Baltimore City is nearby and, in fact, the Patapsco runs through the City. Notably - the "Inner Harbor" is located along the Patapsco. The McKeldin Area is the western most portion of the park and all of the pictures below were taken there. The location is at the Howard County - Carroll County border. The trails there are for the most part multi-use for hiking, biking, and equestrian use. We haven't encountered horses, however, have seen the evidence left behind. So. Thanks for checking back and hopefully you enjoy.
